A Quick Vent and Never Trust 'Preview'

Hi Andrew,

WIX and Editor X have similar UI. Say for instance when I want to change an image, I’m expecting to see a different colorway, font, and layout, it’s the same as the original WIX. I get that the blue is holding everything together.

The ‘Choose Animation’ for single images is the same as WIX and I believe there needs to be an update to those animations on both platforms. To be fair, the default previews may have to be updated on Editor X to make them a bit more appealing. For example, delayed timing for some, in general, sleeker and not so cartoonish, not everyone using the app is going to customize the animation (Empathy is the name of the game, right? Or do they just teach that in boot camps? A real question, not being sarcastic. Some people are new to this app and web design). Some are usable but add more and maybe switch up the iconography. Research on other sites may help the team choose better animations. Maybe add Parallax to more than just the Strip features since a user can’t edit the width only the height. Use the background Scroll Effects on single images in addition to the current animations.

Pro Galleries on Editor X have enhanced imagery and sleek video with the same animations and UI.

I get that I can use a grid to help me organize elements, but to quickly check the spacing between elements, I’d just say take a note from Figma they execute it very well. It’s not copying per se, many apps align with current practices. Canva has recently tried updating their app with a similar function but only when copying and dragging an element.

As mentioned and most importantly, not sure what is going on with the preview screen and real-time site but at times they do not sync. I’m having a bit of trouble with it and don’t feel comfortable presenting my site to future employers because of it.

I switched over to WIX Editor X to experience higher quality features but I may have to learn code or more development practices to get the full experience. I’m an entry-level web designer after all but I’ve been in the field of graphic design for 7 years and UX/UI research and design for 3 years.

This is all personal observation and feedback from a WIX user of 3 years.

Thanks again, I hope you were able to pull some info from what was mentioned above.
