We’ve created a site for a client and are in the process of adding the domain name. Since the eventual owner is going to be paying for the upgrade, it would be nice to allow them to make the upgrade and allow my team to work through the domain transfer without requiring us to transfer ownership back-and-forth.
An “eventual owner” type role would be beneficial. It would have all the same permissions as a contributor, but would also be able to upgrade the site.
Yeah, I mean really the fact that you can’t connect a domain until you have a premium account is the sticking point. Any person with a Wix site will likely want to have their own domain but people who are putting the site together can’t complete that work until the “owner” has put down their credit card.
One could certainly make a business of charging a percent above the cost of Wix hosting and pass that cost over to the consumer (while paying for it directly), but that doesn’t really make sense for Wix from a business perspective. Given that, it makes a lot more sense to allow a person, not paying for the hosting, connect a domain name prior to the actual premium upgrade sale being made.
