Bring Vertical Sections in Editor X to Wix Studio
What current pain point are you facing?
With Studio replacing Editor X ALL features should be brought over. Currently we are not able to add vertical sections on Wix Studio like we can in Editor X.
Do you have a current workaround that you’re using?
None
Describe the feature you need and how it would work. (Bonus points for mockups )
Like how it works on Editor X
How will this impact you?
I already use this in Editor X and will need it when my site is converted to Studio.
Hey @pamela why is wix replacing a product that doesn’t include the features of the product that is in place? I really don’t understand why we have to make a feature request for something that is on Editor X and Wix decided to replace Editor X with Studio, so it should have everything Editor X has plus the new features.
It’s causing unnecessary friction for us to get features taken away, then we have to create a workaround and to have to make a request and wait months or years for it to be developed again.
We’ve reached out to the team about vertical sections and will get back to you as soon as we hear something.
While I can’t give you an answer now, the teams are always working to reduce friction and add the features that people need. I get that this is a feature that you need, and many others may also need to.
In the meantime, let’s have a little more patience until we have an answer
We need this feature as well. Add us to the list. I’m not upset but I too agree that it doesn’t make sense to release Wix studio without support of a pretty significant feature from Editor x. Hopefully there is a quick fix!
All you can do is vote for it and wait man. I don’t understand how a company this big can operate like this. Editor X was a few years old then they drop a new editor to replace it, don’t feature everything we got used to, make it more complicated to work and then tell us to vote for a feature we already had. It makes no sense.
Whoaaaaa, seriously?!?!? I didn’t even realize until today that vertical sections aren’t available anymore. What blows more for me is that when I first built my primary site in EditorX, I used pinned containers for my vertical nav menus instead of vertical sections, but then I CHANGED TO VERTICAL SECTIONS AFTER WIX SUPPORT RECOMMENDED I DO SO!!!
So now fast forward less than a year later, I need to go back in and completely change pretty much every page of my site to pinned containers for my vertical sitewide menu on Desktop breakpoints.
OH, but now there are all of these weird functionality issues with Pinned/sticky sections/elements across breakpoints, so I guess I’m going to have to play with a bunch of stuff just to get it functioning the way it was with EditorX.
ugh

Also, we can’t use these words on the forum? These were the words I chose to keep it PG and I guess they’re not PG enough lol:
Hahah, the forum has an automated spam/protection system, which sometimes can be a little overeager, but the tradeoff to keep a healthy discussion space is worth it.
It’s worth noting, that if you have a vertical section in an Editor X site, when it updates to Studio, it will retain that feature unless deleted.
But yes, at the moment, there’s not an equivalent alternative in Studio - if you haven’t already, let’s get your vote on the feature request - it definitely helps the team see what the community wants - Studio Editor Request: Vertical Sections | Help Center | Wix.com
100% what @AnthonyAllioo said.
Vertical Sections has been a fundamental component for the structure of building websites in EditorX, even by their own recommendations. For that reason, the core of my pages, are structured with Vertical Sections, and I am pretty sure I am not the only user who has been doing that (as it shows in this forum).
Wix’s “solution” to seamlessly migrate to it is frustrating to say the least:
If the site you’re updating already has vertical sections, you will still see them on the site but won’t be able to edit them (only remove).
I really hope that Wix will support this feature again OR come with a true seamless (and painless) method to migrate that does not require ‘removing’ parts and rebuilding (yes, I will vote and pray).
But bottomline, putting love and effort on work on a platform that can’t guarantee if/when that work still be supported at anytime is truly the worst.
