I’m trying to add custom fields to a membership profile for City and State and I’m being told the field name already exists but it’s not on the list of field names.
BTW…I saw an old forum post from 2020 where no one replied so this has been an issue for sometime. Here’s that post: Can't add new custom field because it says it already exists

I see I can add the “address” but I only want the options for city and state. This really should be separated as I want people to know where people are located within the community without someone seeing a full address. So the only way around this was to create a field that says “My City” “My State”. YUCK!!! 
When you add that address field, can’t you just decide on the page you’re designing, which part of the address is shown?
