Question:
How to have an Selected State Text colour for all menu items EXCEPT for “Home” When visitors go to my website I don’t want the “Home” menu item to be a different colour. All other menu items needs to change the colour to the Selected state when visiting that specific page though. Is that possible?
Product:
Wix Studio
Pretty much every website I go to the “Home” menu item is the same colour as the rest of the menu items even though I am on the home page. When a menu item is clicked on then that menu item changes to the 'Selected" state. Can Wix Studio do this as well. All I get is the “Home” menu item is already in the selected colour when visiting the home page and it looks a little strange and not standard.
Have you got any examples of this? I’ve not personally come across this behavior on other sites, and it seems a little bit of a confusing user experience to not highlight the home when you’re on the home - but would be interested to see other sites that do this.
It might be possible with CSS and a little code, although I’ve ot personally tried this, so don’t have a starting point to hand.
The alternative experience I’ve seen is to not include the “Home” in the menu, but have the logo/site name be the link to the homepage
Hi Noah, Thanks heaps for replying. After your reply I went searching and it looks like that modern websites have the Home menu item not shown at all relying on people knowing that the logo takes them there or have the Home menu item a different colour. I’m migrating from wordpress and have previously used simple CSS but could not figure it out in the Wix coding. Maybe I have old web designs stuck in my head
I’ll use one of the two options from now on though.
Awesome - I forgot to mention that CSS is only available on Wix Studio. If you’re using the Wix Editor (Classic editor) you won’t have access to CSS.
Good luck with the migration
