Connect text with database

Hi, as a beginner in site building, sorry for the basic question: when I connect a text area to a database, the content of the database does not appear in the text area…
Could you help ?

Thank you for your answer; unfortunately, while I followed all the tutorial, when I connect a “text” zone to a field (column) of my database, the content of the column does not appear in Preview Mode.

My objective is to create a website introducing projects : I want therefore 1 page per project.
My approach has been :

  • creating a database with common information for each page (ex. name, sector, planning…)
  • creating a template page (“dynamic”) in which the common information is structured (including “text”, and here it is where it does not connect)
  • … and then I’ll see how ensure to have 1 line of my database displayed per page

PS - something stranger : for some database fields, the link works well with the text area, but not for others ; when I check the customizing, delete-recreate link etc, nothing changes…
