Copying Rich Text Database Fields with Formatting Intact

I have set up a set of pages whose content is retrieved from a collection. I have a Rich Text field for the main content. I have created an entry in one row which is example text for the client to see and then to change for their proper content. I am trying to copy this formatted content from one field in the content manager and paste it into all of the other pages rich text field so that all pages have the same formatted holding text.

When I copy from one cell and then paste into the next one down, the formatting defaults to P2 (my main style is P1) and changes all of the text in the field to P2. I just want to duplicate the contents of one rich text cell into all of the others and preserve the original formatting.

Why does the Rich Text Field default to P2? I think this is the problem.

I thought perhaps if I change my default paragraph style to P2 then this would solve the problem (a workaround). This partly works, but when I copy and paste between row, I preserve most formatting but loose some paragraph breaks.

So, in summary, I just want to be able to Copy and Paste between Rich Text fields in the content manager and preserve the formatting. This doesn’t seem to be working. I could write some code to replace all Rich Text fields, but this seems a bit crazy for what could and should be just a simple copy and paste job.
