Dataset Import Catastrophe!

Hi everyone,

I wanted to update multiple rows in my dataset, which has c 2,000 rows.

I exported as CSV, amended in excel then re-imported only syncing the columns that I had changed.

Two things have happened:

  1. All of the columns that I chose not to sync (because I hadn’t changed them) are now blank and empty.

  2. The only columns I synced were Name and Text, and the dataset has now created a duplicate of every single row. So I have 2x the data in the dataset.

I think I need to learn two things very urgently

  1. How can I rollback my dataset and undo the import I have just done? My Live data is still fine, is there a way to pull that down into the Sandbox? (I could pull the Live down as a CSV, but then I’d lose all formatting in Rich Text fields)

  2. How shoudl I have done the above? If I want to update Columns 6 and 7, for only certain rows, for example - but there are too many rows to manually paste the text into each row.

1 is far more important right now!

Please can someone help me?

Nathan

Yes there is a way to COPY from LIVE to PREVIEW and also a way to COPY from PREVIEW to LIVE!

GO INTO YOUR DATABASE!

You will see SANBOX in ORANGE click on it and you can switch to LIVE.
Next to this menu (right side) you will find what you need.

Be careful! When you do one more error, your DATA could be lost!

Found it, heart returning to normal rhythm! Thank you so VERY much

Can you work out what I did wrong on the import?

Is there a way to update a field without wiping everything else?
