Domains, Backgrounds, and Right-Click interactions

Hello everyone! I have a couple of questions related to domains, backgrounds, and user interactions.

Some of you already know it, but I’m working on my personal website, and I’ll soon buy a domain on Google Domains. However, I might decide to redesign my website at a later date (rebuild it from scratch). Shall I do that, will I be able to unlink the previous version and replace it with the new one on the same domain?

While working on my personal website, I’ve recently started working on another one for a personal project of mine, but there are a couple of things I’d like to do:

  1. I have a custom background that I designed specifically for this website, but it’s a landscape. When on mobile, I’d like my website to display a portrait version of the same background. Is there a way for two different backgrounds to be displayed depending on the way the website is viewed?

  2. From time to time, when I explore other websites, I notice that, when right-clicking on an element (i.e. image, text, etc.), none of the functions usually available can be used, nor the menu shows up. There are even times when a pop-up window (saying a line such as “This function is not available” ) shows up if I right-click on a page. Do you think this is something that can be achieved on Editor X as well?

Hey @alessandro thanks for reaching out.

Regarding the domain, you can reassign the premium plan to a new site and it will assign the domain to the new site.

As for the other questions:

  1. You can use a different image for each breakpoint by hiding the one you don’t want to display. You could also change the focal point on each breakpoint since that won’t be changing the image.

  2. There’s a right-click protect app that can be added to an Editor X site.

Good evening @Rob , I apologize for the late reply.
Thank you for clarifying my doubt about assigning and reassigning domains to a website.
In regards to your other comments:

  1. I think I got the gist of it, but I guess that, in order to use a different image for each breakpoint, I have to use the Add Elements > Media > My Uploads function instead of Inspector > Page > Section > Design > (Background) Media . Is that correct? (I don’t think I’m going to change the focal point, since I’ve learned that its purpose is to focus the breakpoint’s “attention” on a specific area of the image)

  2. Oh, there is an app for that? That’s a good news. But I guess I need to configure it in order for it to work on my entire website, is that right?

No worries on the reply time.

  1. That would be the way since changing the image is a data change and that will affect all breakpoint. You could maybe duplicate the section and change the section background if you want an effect. Just the initial way I described is what I’ve usually done since the section background feature is a bit more recent.

  2. There’s not too much to configure for the Right-Click protect app. This article has many of the settings and describes some of the limitations. https://support.wix.com/en/article/wix-media-adding-and-setting-up-the-right-click-protect-app

  1. I see. Perhaps I’ll give a try to both solutions, and see which one works best. I have only one more question though. I noticed that, no matter what settings I choose for the background, the top and bottom parts are always “cut”. Is there a size that you’d recommend the background image to be?

2. Thank you for the article link. I’ll go through it as soon as possible.
