Duplicating a site - how much gets duplicated?

Hi,

I’m building a website for a client. I’ve found that the easiest way of doing the next stage website and demonstrating it to them is to duplicate the site and do the work on the duplicate; then sending the client a link to the published duplicate site - when they approve, I just move the domain name over to the duplicate site.
If I do that, does it mean that any subscribers to the original site won’t be subscribed to the duplicate (i.e. the new main site)? Would it affect anything else?

All contacts are duplicated with the site including subscribers :slight_smile:

That’s great - just didn’t want to lose anything … and duplicating the site is the easiest way to show a client new developments without having to explain how to view hidden elements on an existing site!

Hi again!

I dug a little deeper for you, and it looks like contacts don’t carry over :frowning:

In the mean time, you can always export the contacts from the original site and import them to the duplicate .

@sheyla Ah, phew, glad you dug a little deeper! Thanks so much for your help - I’ll bookmark this and ensure that I export/import when I duplicate and repoint a domain to the duplicate site
