Editor X Usability Issue

I am having difficulty keeping my workspace centered on my screen. Often my workspace shifts sideways, hiding a portion of the webpage I am working on off screen. I have learned to reduce the size with CTRL±, but even when the workspace is made small enough to fit when centered, it will suddenly shift sideways and I cannot see a large portion of my webpage.

It seems to me there used to be a scroll bar which allowed me to manually shift the workspace where I need it to be, but currently there is no such scroll bar, and I cannot find another way to move it manually.

The shifting usually happens when I use the handles that change the webpage display size. But even when I move the handles back, the workspace remains shifted off my screen.

Please can someone tell me how to control this aspect of the workspace.

I recommend simply setting your workspace to fit your screen by entering a comfortable screen width on the desktop breakpoint. For example if your monitor with is 1800, enter in a lower number to make it sit nicely in your viewport.

I thought that field is for changing the target display size in order to test your design against various viewer screen sizes. As such, I change that setting all the time. In fact, when you drag the sizing handles on either side of the working page, that setting changes automatically. However, that does not fix my issue.

Upon further experimentation I have discovered that the problem only occurs when you HAVE used CTRL± to reduce the workspace size. But if you want to test your webpage for a large screen (by setting the value circled in red in iamteejay’s comment to a large value) then the workspace display always extends off the screen. When that happens you cannot view and fix problems you cannot see. So it seems you either need a way to manually scroll to examine all parts of the webpage or use CTRL±, the latter of which seems to have a bug.

Has anyone else experienced this?

So you are saying even after your size your workspace to fit your screen you are still having to to increase your browser window zoom-in tool? If that is the case, make sure you don’t have any elements that are wider than your view port / workspace.

Breakpoints are defined in the tool here. That field I mentioned is just a way to size your workspace without using the handle bars

No, there are no elements extending beyond the viewport.

Perhaps demonstrate using a screen grab?
