Feedback

I’ve never done this before in all my years as a partner lol

This site still needs the full collections uploaded (waiting on them)
I am still working on the policies pages.

Curious what ya’ll think so far? Cheers! Feedback and suggestions are always welcome!

It’s looking good so far.

Not much to change, but the only thing that stands out is the size of the logo. I would suggest reducing the size of it drastically. I have attached a screenshot of a wix header from one of their templates. You can see how big the logo is on this site.

This reduces the amount of negative space, and will make the design look much better.

Other than the, you’re doing a fairly good job.

If you want any further advice, just let me know.

Love it! Great colors, nice motion. I disagree with Noah about the size of the logo…I think it makes it pop. The design suits the product and screams “fun!”

Well, each to their own.

Personally, the size of a logo should not be the deciding factor on whether it ‘pops’ or not. If the logo is designed to ‘pop’, it will do this no matter its size. If it takes a large logo to make it pop, then the logo is poorly designed and doesn’t achieve what it should.

However, I shan’t get into an argument about the nitty gritty of design and how it works.

@noahlovell Just a differing opinion. I personally like the statement it makes when the home page first opens. It immediately captures the attention of the viewer. If it were smaller, you would eventually see it…but it would be less memorable. I agree this isnt always the case, especially for straight forward and practical business sites…but here it seems to be (at least in my opinion) a great branding choice for a fun and flamboyant product.

@artio I understand what you mean, and think open discussions about differing opinions are healthy. It allows people to understand different points of view, and to express their opinions in a polite minor.

The only problem with having a header that large, is it currently takes up 1/3 of the above the fold content. Space that can be better used for call to actions and other.

Have you ever done any research into the ‘f’ and ‘e’ patterns of how users interact with websites? I think it would help you to understand my point in regards to the logo. No matter the size, it wouldn’t get lost.

Anyway, I doubt we’ll ever reach the same opinion, but I’d like to thank you for being able to allowing us both to express our opinions

@noahlovell thank you for your feedback! I have built a lot of sites in the format you are speaking too, this one I went different. The size also accommodates the drop down menu as well and I felt made the website stand out more. This has nothing to do with a a “poorly designed” logo and was meant to be more “fun” than standard web design do’s and don’ts. There will be alot more CTA as the client provides me with the rest of her collections and CTA don’t always have to be at the header area. I understand where you are coming from tho and thank you again for your feedback~

@artio Thank you! The client and her husband who is away at sea right now and say it both love it. We may play with the back ground color today and we are adding another section called " My Kids" favorites

I decided the background was too dark, what do you think? I I know the white text on grey doesn’t work I would obviously make changes depending on the chosen background, waiting to see what the client thinks, so far with the original they loved it but we open to seeing some alternate colours.

Looks good. Definitely heading in the right direction.

When it comes to colour, have you ever tried using a tool to help pick colours that work well together?

I like to use a tool called ‘Paletton’ where I can choose a base colour and then it creates colours that work alongside.

This video is also a great start to understanding colour theory in graphic communication

@avanidigitalwixpartn No problem.

At the end of the day, like you said, it’s what you and your client feel is best.

Sometimes, the knowledge I have through education in graphic communication and web design carry me away. I hope it works out well for you

@noahlovell You always have great input Noah!

@noahlovell Thank you Noah  I will have a look at it. I know they exsist but I tend to prefer letting my own creativity piece the pallette together. It doesn’t always come together and I will try this next time instead of looking at swatches of colors.
