What are you using to filter ? is it a dropdown that is connected to the dataset for filtering. If so you may need to remove this connection and code the dropdown to filter. Have run into this problem before with coding repeaters.

What is the full code you are using ? the snippet I supplied would need to be adjusted to suit your requirements and still require code to show/hide depending on CMS fields having content.
