I am building a site right now and was wondering if I should actually build it in editor-x but is the database feature fully working? Should I wait?

Yes you can definitely go ahead and build sites in Editor X using Wix Data.
Before you start it is required to enable Wix Data, similarly to the classic editor, by adding a Content Manager from the Add Panel or by turning on Dev Mode.
