# How to close current wix page ?

How can i close the current wix-page ?

And

How can i open a new page or tab from wix-page ?

Hi Jorge!

Opening in the same/new tab is determined by the browser. This means that it’s very difficult (or impossible) to create a full consistent user experience since different browsers behave differently, and users tend to configure according to personal preferences (where it’s possible to set).

Closing a tab/window is also impossible, your only option is using LightBox and the [close( )](https://www.wix.com/code/reference/wix-window.lightbox.html#close) method that comes along with it.

Note that these limitation doesn’t apply only in Wix but in browsers in general.  
A window can only close other sub-windows that were open by it, never itself.

Hi. We need to have a ‘leave this site’ button as shown in [https://safelives.org.uk/](https://safelives.org.uk/) … I think this is possible despite the comment above that it’s not. Can you please clarify?
