How to display all posts from a category EXCEPT the most recent

I’d like to have a page that highlights the most recent post of a category at the top and then displays the remainder of the posts from that category below that. I have a workaround in place of utilizing different categories, however I am wondering if there is a way to do this more efficiently, It seems the difficult part is in displaying all posts from. a category without the most recent.
