I hired a coder for a Wix site; now there's an issue.

Hi all:
I am NOT a coder. I hired a coder to help me do some things my dad wanted for his 60th high school reunion website. The coder did the javascript, and at first all went well. Then, it didn’t. And he had moved on.

Should I post the specific questions that I have here? Or should I just post this as an RFP for a javascript coder to rewrite or correct the problem?

In short, what was supposed to happen was:
*people logged in
*they filled in blanks on Personal Profiles to tell each other what they’d been doing for the last 60 years
*the list of who had filled out the Personal Profiles became clickable so that you could see your classmates’ profiles and their answers, but you could change and edit only yours.

And most of the time, this is exactly what happened.

But occasionally and apparently randomly, someone would log in, and the code would overwrite an existing Profile with the new person’s answers. We were losing people’s well- thought-out responses, and we were pissing them off, so we had to close down the login for the site.

However. The reunion is over and the dust has now settled; and there is a lot of good information still in the database remaining. Plus, now that people have had their reunion and have seen each other, there is a great deal of interest in using this feature and sharing their stories.

And I don’t know how to do that without another coder and without potentially losing what we already have.

Help me, all you Obi-Wan Kenobis out there! You’re our only hope.

Hi,
Check out Wix Arena to hire an expert.
Good luck!
Roi.

If you want to post questions here they should be small enough to be answered in the forum. This is no place to get whole projects made or solved. Then Wix Arena is a better place but if you have smaller issues go ahead and post there. The smaller questions you post the more answers and faster reply you will get.

So don’t make a post with 7 questions inside, make 7 posts with smaller chunks inside.

I had the same issue… hired “wix experts” from the wix arena and been having loads of issues… :frowning:

Loads of issues with problems, the developer or code?

@scott-adams Hey, I have had one or two projects that was small where I also messed things up because they grew during the discussion but in general I get 5-star reviews and testimonials. I am sorry you had a bad experience. My tip is to always use Paypal, if they don’t accept Paypal don’t do business with them. If you use Paypal you can always make demands to Paypal. When you use Bank Wire you can’t do anything when the money has been transferred.

I could maybe help you depending on the scope, send your requirements to andreas@uggadugg.com and I will look at it or recommend some trustworthy person to you.
