Is it possible to assign a contact to a contributor based on a form submission?

I’ve got a site where customers from various regions complete a form to submit a request for an appointment. I’d like to be able to assign those customers to specific employees for a region for the purposes of managing communication/messaging to confirm details.

I know using the UI it is possibnle to assign a contact of my site to a contributor, but is it possible to automate that process using APIs somehow? I looked over the contact schema and didn’t see any place to assign a contact.

I am afraid that it’s currently not possible. You can check the APIs that allow working with the site contacts and see what they allow you to do:
