LIVE

Ok, I need help understanding lives on here.

If it doesn’t notify the guests when I’m live, what’s the point?

Can I see who is on and comments?

Is it better to do it from a YouTube channel or wix video?

I’m so frustrated trying to figure this out. My goal is to avoid Facebook for my business, but I need to be able to do lives and updates for my peeps.

Notifications are done manually via emails. It’s different from Facebook/YouTube where your guests are notified in the app and via push notifications. When you go live on your website, where your visitors are not logged in all the time like Facebook/YouTube, you need to invite them to watch prior to your live event. The built-in audience is the advantage of social networks. Going live only on your site has other advantages: you can charge for access, offer exclusive content for members only and link your videos directly to relevant promotions like blog posts, products and so on.

In WixVideo you can see comments and how many people are watching, but you don’t see their names unless they are commenting. You can chat with guests during your broadcast.

By the way, if you go live on YouTube for a scheduled event, you can live stream it on your site in parallel - simply add the url to your video channel prior to going live, and make sure that channel is displayed in the widget on your site.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
