When I first applied to the marketplace, I only had 5 premium sites so I was presented with the opportunity to enter the Marketplace with a subscription fee of $250/mo. It’s worked out pretty well so far…I now have 12 premium sites. But as I approach the 20 sites needed to apply without the subscription fee, I asked if the fee would go away. Turns out, if I don’t pay the subscription fee, the 1-year premium vouchers I was given (and gave to 4 of my clients) will not be valid without the subscription fee. A reasonable solution would be to pay for their plans myself, but that’s not very professional to explain this situation and request ownership of their site again, purchase the plan, etc.
Anyone else have a misleading experience like this?
Hey Caitlyn!
The experience is certainly not intended to be misleading; so please allow me to clarify. In order to be eligible for the Marketplace you must be an Icon (2000 pts). It is possible for you to be eligible if you have 5 live premiums + the Icon Package or Legend Package. Once you achieve the Icon level your eligibility requirement will be met and you won’t need the subscription to remain in the Marketplace, however it’s important to note the sales package provides additional value beyond Marketplace eligibility. For example, as long as your subscription is active the sites will not expire. This is a great model if you wish to remain the owner of the site and charge your clients monthly/annually.
Does this clear it up and make sense?
