Yesterday I received Andreas Kviby´s departure email. Since this was a public email, sent to all his members of his WixShow initiative, I feel free to publish a copy below.
I do not want to interfere intrinsically in this case: we only hear Andreas´s side and Wix´s hire-and-fire policy is theirs, and theirs alone.
But with Andreas´s departure from Wix Code (apart for some running projects), I am probably (one of) the most senior, outside member of the Wix Code Beta project and I feel the need to not let Andreas´departure go unnoticed.
Without a doubt, Andreas was the most active outside member on this forum. His contributions have helped many of us and he was always willing to help people, going as far as to write parts of the code for them.
Many of us owe gratitude to him and his departure from Wix is without a doubt a great loss. I believe Wix Code could have benefited hugely from his experience, but alas, it was not meant to be.
To express our (forum members, Wix Support and even Wix Ltd) gratitude for his relentless enthusiasm and evangelical work, I propose to set up some kind of account on the web where we can all donate some money. With this, we could buy something on Amazon and have it delivered to Andreas.
Let me know if there is any interest in saying goodbye to Andreas in a dignified manner.

Wix didn’t want him onboard… I feel wixCode is dying slowly… No updates of any type and we’re just stuck with the same features, even he chose to quit. I’ve heard a lot of sites are migrating to other platforms. Wix code wasa great initiative but they slowly let id die.
It is sad to see him go. And while I agree that a nice gesture would be a kind to give him ---- you may not find even a fraction of reaction you were hoping from the entire Wix Code Forum audience. The truth is — most people take for granted all the help and advice that is given to them. Some expect it and feel entitled to it. Others forget to say Thank you. And very few forget that we, too, put all of our time and effort because we do this for a living and cannot survive on ‘free’.
Just the same, you can count on my support. I’m in.
Nayeli, thanks for your support. It is true that I was unpleasantly surprised by the underwhelming response. No, let me put it exactly as it is: it made me bitter, for exactly the same reasons that you mentioned. Andreas has helped us all out, and people can´t even spare a couple of dollars to show their appreciation? Really? Bloody leachers.
So instead, I decided to buy a copy a Andreas´ Wix Library, something he put up for sale a couple of days ago. I might never use it, but still, as I wrote to him, it is my token of gratitude for all the help he offered.
Buy a copy of Andreas´ Wix Library?? That sounds exciting, how do I do that? (Just now learning about him and his videos, only to find out that I’m very late to the game.)
@deleteduser Unfortunately, any site that is not upgraded to a Wix Premium plan will not be able to accept payments ---- therefore Wix Stores or anything that prompts or process a payment will not work.
@code-queen@wixcodeextracts Yep, that’s what happened, tried to buy and it was not able to process payments. I left a message on that site, who knows if that part works.
If anyone has an alternative way to get hold of Andreas´ Wix Library please do let me know. Would be happy to buy it directly from him, but there seems to be no way to do that.
I was helped countless times by Andreas’ posts. He was a big reason I stayed and is now a big reason I have been learning Laravel and PHP. I haven’t been happier with the performance I am witnessing since moving and recommend everyone else frustrated with performance and lack of basic things as simple as a scrolling repeater to follow him. It’s way better on the other side of the wix api. Thanks Andreas once again, even “AD” you are still the most useful person on here!
