By the way, can someone shed light on the seeming paradox between unlimited storage and restricted CMS data? It’s puzzling how one could create a vast movie database with thousands of 4K movies, yet hit the data limit after just 10,000 CMS entries, consuming multiple terabytes. It appears perplexing, and I’m wondering if there’s a missing piece to this puzzle or if it genuinely lacks coherence. Considering the potential resource consumption, BTW unlimted Wehosting packages with some providers are as cheap as 20usd monthly.
IMO 100gb should not cost more than 10€ and cms limitation should not exist instead storage should be limited
Atm i cant really recommend wix to our bigger clients, bc the lack of scalablility
The challenge lies in the fact that currently, with only 8,500 items, I occupy only 0.23% of the allocated space, but an update could quickly escalate this usage to over 80%. This sudden change underscores the crucial need for planned scalability from WIX to meet our needs and enable transparent communication with our clients.
What we ask of WIX is to consider our scalability concerns and provide plans tailored to our clients. However, imposing a $179 pricing for only 100,000 elements seems disproportionate to us.
Unfortunately, the logic behind WIX’s classic premium plans appears unclear. It is essential for WIX to reconsider its current limitations to ensure a more coherent and affordable experience for its users.
Beyond these considerations, it is regrettable to observe that WIX’s logic sometimes appears absent, especially in the classic premium plans. The apparent paradox between unlimited storage and restrictions on CMS data raises legitimate questions about the coherence of the offering.
As professionals seeking to recommend solutions to our clients, the challenge lies in communicating these nuances without precise information on pricing. We aim to ensure smooth scalability for our clients, but the current limitations make this task challenging.
So let’s go back to @noahlovell, to date WIX hasn’t heard our main demand, so I left a negative review on WIX, beyond that customer service explained to me that the CMS quotas on the Plus and Standard packages were not intended to be changed.
The problem is that it still affects our business and our revenue, and as you’ve seen it’s been 6 months and the subject is still in top feedback. And the developers will continue to keep it there until the quotas are updated. The good thing about being a freelancer is that we have time and energy, no matter what time of day it is, and we don’t forget anything! We’ll keep on fighting for the good of all until our demands, which seem logical to everyone, are heard.
It’s not a question of exessive demands, it’s simply a question of a rebalancing that needs to be carried out by WIX, because the first one that was done didn’t understand our request for CMS quotas. We expect action from WIX, not empty words.
@noahlovell I realise I’m bumping this again on a Friday, but typically that’s normally the time of the week when I actually get the time to take a look at progress on this forum!
Can you please set a reminder for Monday morning so that you can pass on all of these latest concerns? We now have even more developers piping up, and Jess & Lucas have done a fantastic job at highlighting the ludicrous nature of the items vs size comparison.
All of these new arguments, which carry significant weight, need to be forwarded on to your decision makers so they can stay up to date with our concerns.
Speaking with customer service today, I was informed that I’m in a group which will see my sites available for migration from X to Studio on Feb 14. Then that all sites will be forced to migrate by April 30.
This isn’t much time, especially as I will elect to move mine (due to inevitable migration bugs) rather than wait for the force. Please don’t let your superiors try to run out the clock on this one.
I completely agree with @Breakscape on this point, it’s time for the quotas to be updated and for developers to be kept informed.
Beyond that, I find it slightly excessive to force people onto WIX STUDIO so quickly, especially considering I have more than just one site to generate and migrate.
It would be nice to have a bit more time to wait for user feedback and address the migration bugs that, as you know, will arise. June or July would be more optimized dates to force the migrations.
I’ve already experienced migration bugs between WIX and Editor X in the past, and frankly, it was a real disaster!
I really hope the teams have taken the time to test because I paid for Editor X services and not those of WIX Studio, and I didn’t pay to have an additional workload caused by this migration.
Can you confirm that everything has been thought through, whether it’s constraints, contact forms, sections, and others?
Can you also finally confirm that WIX has paid attention to its developers and will update its quotas? (Especially considering the latest input from @JessCK, other developers, and myself)
I have and will continue to follow this topic, and will also continue sharing the feedback of the community - as we, the community team have always done.
While I can’t guarantee any changes will/won’t be made since these decisions are made by other teams, I would like to remind you of a couple of things:
Firstly, as long as auto-renew is on, your EditorX plans will remain in place for your sites, even after they update to Wix Studio. Meaning, if you have an EditorX site with an EditorX plan, and its auto-renew is on, it’ll keep renewing that plan, with those quotas even when it becomes a Wix Studio site.
The changes announced as part of Open Studio were made in consideration of the many different meetings, forum topics, discussions had with users, and analytics collected about usage.
On the topic of updating sites from Editor X to Studio, I’ll need to check with where everything is up to.
Since the core infrastructure of Editor X and Studio is very similar, the updating of sites should be pretty seamless, and from what I’ve been seeing, it’s looking that way. I’ll pass on your concerns either way.
And finally, I know this topic is one filled with a lot of passionate people - and I understand the frustration. As I know you always do, please keep in mind the forum guidelines when sharing your point of view.
A constructive conversation makes it much easier to convey your concerns to the team
@noahlovell Thank you very much for your detailed response and for clarifying some important points, particularly regarding the continuity of EditorX plans during the transition to Wix Studio.
We appreciate your commitment to conveying our concerns to the appropriate team. However, it is crucial to emphasize that despite months of discussions, some concerns persist, especially those related to the limitations of the CMS.
Community members have long expressed their concerns about the CMS’s limited functionality compared to the growing needs of users. Despite efforts to maintain a constructive conversation, these concerns remain unresolved. It is essential for the responsible teams to address these issues proactively to meet the community’s needs.
How can we collaborate to find solutions and move forward?
Thank you again for your attention, and have a great weekend!
Did your site transition over from EditorX to Wix Studio? I believe you mentioned that the Wix team said that today is the day that your site is supposed to be moved over.
Is there anything we can do to help you with whatever issues are popping up on your end?
I haven’t received any notifications yet, the CS agent said that my account would be eligible from today onwards, so I’m expecting some kind of notification soon.
It’s possible that all of our accounts are in this group, so you might get something too. As long as it doesn’t get forced then I think things should be okay to move over one by one.
I have noticed some strange things happening on a couple of our sites lately. Live pages only loading a white screen, menus disappearing etc. without me changing anything. Have you had anything like that lately?
Yeah, I’m having issue with page rendering on one of my live sites (my most important one). I randomly get a white space (approx 40vh) at the very top of my pages, but then it will go back to normal when I refresh the page. I didn’t change anything from before, so no idea what’s happening.
I’ve checked ALL of my page/section/container dimension/spacing settings (auto height, etc) and everything looks correct. It’s annoying AF, but I’m trying not to go down a constant troubleshooting rabbit hole on my Editor X sites knowing that they SHOULD be moving over soon.
I wanted to pop in here and let you all know that updating Editor X sites to Wix Studio is now possible for all Partners and Studio users! More information about this here
yeah the limitation makes absolutely no sense unless we are talking about millions of entries. YOu dont realy need more ressources because of 100k entires more or less.
