There is a super useful tutorial / example on how to create user profiles using wixcode here:
I imagine many folks have used this or something similar to enable users to create profiles on their site.
There is an issue with this example. If a user changes his profile email, the Wix login email is NOT changed. I understand why but this seems to be a fairly serious issue as now a user of a Wix site would need two accounts. The “wix email+password” and the “site specific email+password”.
I am surprised this tutorial does not warn about this? I discovered this in my testing.
Is there a way to update the wix email when a user updates their profile email?
I think this will cause issues for users not understanding how WIx works and is a pretty big issue? Thanks!
Yes, I completely understand. I totally get “why” this is the situation.
But I think it is not a good idea to promote the “how to” article on setting up profiles without letting users know what will happen. Their users may end up having to deal with two email accounts and passwords.
I really think it should be a priority to allow a site admin to update both emails and passwords or users will be very confused.
I just built a complete custom member profile and log in feature only to realize this deal breaker issue. Not sure how I will resolve or explain to client after all this work. Anybody has an update on this or a possible solution?
