Random characters in auto generated dynamic page url

Hey there!

I have a database collection of articles. Each article has a title and a category.

For example:
Title: YSL Teint Encre De Peau All Hours Foundation: Liquid Vs. Stick
Category: Beauty

I have a column which assigns/creates an autogenerated url (Category, Title). Eg:
/articles/beauty/ysl-teint-encre-de-peau-all-hours-foundation%3A-liquid-vs.-stick

Why are there random characters in my url? Specifically the “%3A” part.

Any guidance on this would be appreciated :slight_smile:

That is because URL’s are “escaped”. See https://www.werockyourweb.com/url-escape-characters/
So the hex value for a “:” is 3A and the % indicates “escape code following”.
BTW: this is not a Velo-related issue, it’s how the web works.
