Store manager CAN'T purchase shipping label? For real?! Very frustrating

Hi Editor X team,

For nearly three months our team has been working hard on the below website:

And 24hrs before the site launching we just found out that the “Store Manager” role can’t purchase/print shipping label? In fact only one single role - “owner” can do this and all other roles, including “co-owner” would get stuck at below screen and won’t be able to proceed:

We’ve reached out to your customer support multiple times over the weekend and the only answer we got is “sorry we don’t have that feature now and you’ll have to get the site owner to print shipping label”.

This really creates a massive problem for us - we have over 100 SKU and we hired a third party vendor to be in charge of the entire fulfillment process, including printing shipping labels. And we simply can NOT transfer the entire site ownership to a third party vendor for security concerns.

So after all the effort we invested and all the money we spent, you now are telling us you don’t have this very basic e-commerce feature? In 2022?

When we decided against Squarespace and came here and purchased your membership trusting your platform - we didn’t see anywhere in your marketing materials stating that “you can only provide very limited e-commerce features”.

To me this is very deceiving and hurting. This project is 100% non-profit and is meant to support the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. Personally I don’t even know how to tell the rest of the team this coming Monday as I was the main advocate to choose Editor X over Shopify or Squarespace. I personally own sites across both Shopify and Squarespace and neither has issues like this.

Please respond and see there’s any consolation regarding this problem - again it’s very heart-breaking and it’s now too late for us to leave Wix even if you give us 100% refund it doesn’t mean much. Seriously why aren’t you getting sued for this or at least get FTC fines? You are a public company!

First sorry for the frustration and delay of the site launch. Can’t see the site since it’s password protected but I love the idea and it being non-profit as well.

Regarding the feature, I believe it’s limited so that only the store owner can purchase things related to the site like shipping labels. I’m curious which method you were planning on using for the label purchases; buying the labels through Wix is specific to the Owner role but there are external apps that can be connected to the site so that way labels can be purchased there (like Shippo , Shipstation , etc).

Since you mentioned they’re a third-party vendor, you can also try connecting a custom fulfillment and send them the information and then they can purchase through their normal methods.

If they were hoping to do it directly through Wix, there is a feature request to allow collaborators to purchase labels but I hope some of the things help to facilitate the launch.

Hi Roberto, thank you for responding. Although I’m (still) very frustrated with WIX product I’m really thankful for the help of the support team and you guys (customer support) are way better than Shopify and Squarespace.

Yes, we have found this way around last night by buying more third party apps. (We got ShipStation and our vendor can buy labels directly i ShipStation dashboard instead of within WIX) However this is not ideal. Because as a non-profit, we are trying to save every penny to put the money to better use for the cause.

Again, I still think that WIX should have the bare-bone e-commerce features available for the default plan. If users are not paying extra for this feature on your competitors’ platforms, it’s a bad idea that people have to do it differently here. Also disclosure is a must in your marketing materials.

@penn I’m just happy to hear that you were able to buy the labels so as to not slow down the launch of the site. Will forward this to the relevant teams and understandable to be frustrated but happy support has been to help. Regarding the competitor platforms, which platforms allow collaborators to purchase labels? Would love to know so we can see what they do and look into it.

@Rob I have sites running on Shopify and Squarespace, both allow site collaborators to process orders including buying shipping labels.

I just took a screenshot in my Squarespace account, they have an option to allow non-admin to purchase assets and once you turn it on, non-admin can do many billing related stuff including but not limited to purchasing labels:

Just wanted to Elevate this topic again because it’s now two full years later and this is STILL an issue.

I’ve just spent six months building out a service offering for selling wix websites…

We have hundreds of clients on Wix.

I’ve just sold half a dozen Ecommerce websites…

And NOW I discover that this very basic ecommerce feature isn’t available on Wix?

This is so insane I’m practically speechless.

We are going to have to move all of our business off of Wix unless we find a workaround or Wix fixes this issue.
