SHOWING STORES COLLECTIONS ON A PAGE

Any thoughts on the best way to show off all the collections in a store on a single page as maybe a grid using the collection header images?

The idea is to offer visitors a shopping hierachy. They choose a collection with a click to head over to its corresponding page (with the products shown).

A repeater linked to the store collections database and a linked database showing corresponding collection gallery urls and maybe a desciption of the collection?
