Transparency and Clarity

There probably won’t need to be much discussion on this topic but I’m sure its something we have all experienced over the years. All Wix App’s are supposedly ‘guaranteed’ tested by Wix teams before implementation so all should be fine…well not always. How often have we used or tried an App, unfortunately because there is only one choice for the function you are looking for ie, Search Site and Language choice and many others. Now I don’t have a problem with this providing all works seemlessly but choices are always a good thing. All to often we see users (reading reviews) implement (even after extra purchases) a so called approved App only to find it has very little or missing a lot of expected function, or simply doesn’t work as expected. When these issues are raised all so often you see the bog standard answer - This function is not available but may be in the future or vote for it or raise a ticket or something. With the new Editor X here is a golden opportunity going forward for Wix support to adopt a fresh approach in the advertised functionality of addittions.

My suggestion is that when a new App, function, element or whatever is added that adds to the experience of building a website more clarity is given for that addittion, what I mean is tell us by all means what it does but more importantly we want to know what it doesn’t do, like say a Pros and Cons explanation. It’s no good installing something and getting all excited only to find it functions to 50% of your expectation, or does not even work at all, we’ve all done it, and you ask your self is someone really testing these Apps properly. For example only one style of search box which looks ok on a desktop but a big ugly rectangular box on a mobile phone looks cumbersome, the obvious choice would be to have a simple choice of having only a magnifying glass icon on your mobile, likewise if it isn’t a choice then say so. This took six emails back and forth to Wix support only to be told in the end this function is not available. Having recently built a full ecommerce website for my wife I am super excited with the possibilities of EX and hopefully by the early to middle of next year there will be enough functionality and clarity of the functionality of additions to re-build her a site that can go live.

Hi @davegoodman12

I am Sebi, Product Manager for Editor X. We apologize for the experience you had with adding applications on your site(s).

I agree, it is not fun to spend time working with a new product or feature only to find out that it doesn’t help you reach your desired goal.

We created this community not only to better understand what you (users) want in the product, but also we want to hear what you are trying to achieve with the feature. We want discussions and brainstorming to happen here. The more we understand what your vision and ideal usage is for the feature, then it will help us create features that are better aligned with your use cases.

We will continue to post about new features in the forum under Updates and Releases, we recommend that when you see it you can comment any lingering questions you may have.

I hope we improve the communication together and your experience with using new features.

@heavyend 81 @sebi-vidret Rich here. I’d like to second Heavend 81. I’ve had issues with apps that even fully paid for, had weak or unstable performance.

Keep up the good work you guys and gals are doing. Patience is hard sometimes. :sunglasses:
