Triggered emails line breaks

Hi,
I need to send a parameter to a triggered emails that includes line breaks, but those line breaks are removed in the triggered email, and the text appears as one big line.
I tried with \n and \r and
— nothing works.
Any idea what triggered emails consider as line breaks?
