I did my first migration of a site from Editor X to Wix Studio today and it wasn’t seamless.
We’ve been reluctant to start migrating sites because we really didn’t expect the process to be smooth, and we’re really nervous about messing up a live site. We decided we had to bite the bullet, so we kicked off conversion with an absolutely simple site.
This is a site with just a few pages that we did free for a friend. There’s nothing much to it. The conversion was fast, but as soon as we went to the home page on the live site, we saw a problem. One or more parallax effects had been removed (but one was left in place).
This worries us. For larger and more complex sites, it will be really painful to have to review every page to see what broke. I’m especially worried about pages where we’ve got Velo code, including one site where we’ve written code to customize the store.
I’d feel a lot better if we had the option to revert the sites to Editor X, so, if the conversion fails spectacularly, we could recover.
Anyhow, I’m reluctant now to do another site. Can anyone else report their experiences with the migration, whether positive or negative? Especially for large or complex sites? What process are you using to confirm that the migration was successful?
