User creation triggers new record in a database

I would like to have a “resume” record automatically created when a user registers, so the first page they see after registration is a form they can enter data into and save. I assume this has to be done with code, but I cannot find any information on how to insert the record based on a registration.

Your guidance would be greatly appreciated!
