Using the Content Manager for a custom dashboard

Hi I am testing out how I might try to use the content manager for a custom dashboard.

Here is my test page:

The test page itself has numerous design/ux flaws which I hope you can overlook! It also does not really follow any real design best practices or work well responsively. Again I hope you can look past these issues

My question is regarding using the Editor X content manager to populate the content on this dashboard. I understand the purpose of a content manager is to provide content for a dataset that is most typically used with repeaters. I am curious if it is possible to use the content manager for a custom design solution which would not use a repeater. Since a custom dashboard might use a unique layout which calls specific items from a dataset, a repeater may not be appropriate.

My example just uses text boxes, but I understand a text box would not be the solution for displaying content from a dataset.

Can anyone provide guidance on how this might be set up correctly? Or if it is even possible?

I have created a content collection and I am attaching a png of what it looks like. I’ve purposely created the collection in a manner where the dashboard only uses certain fields and ignores others because that would need to be part of the custom dashboard solution

I hope that all makes sense!

Thanks so much for your time and consideration!

Hi slyvester
If I understand correctly, I think you want to create a new page that is a “dynamic page” (see image on how to add from the pages panel). Once you do that you can connect items from a dataset using the “Connect data” icon when the element is selected (and you should be able to do it with text as well - see 2nd image as an example).

Will chime in with Yuval’s answer that you if you have the content manager set up, you can create a dynamic page based off the dataset.

This is a good article on whether you should use a static page or dynamic page. https://support.wix.com/en/article/do-i-need-a-dynamic-page-or-a-regular-page-with-a-dataset

Considering the page says dashboard, if you want to filter based on the logged-in member (to show for example the information the member entered), we have an article here. https://support.wix.com/en/article/filtering-database-content-displayed-on-your-page#displaying-items-added-by-the-logged-in-member

Using a content manager is certainly not a bad strategy, but sometimes it’s not enough to grow your blog. I was convinced of this from my own experience when I developed my project on educational topics. I realized that only high-quality and unique content will help me achieve positive traffic growth dynamics.

Thanks!
