I’m having trouble with
Accessing my website even when it’s published. It seems to only work when a VPN is connected. I need it to work on all VPN and non-VPN connections, how can I navigate this?
This happened to our site before. The government covertly sent a directive to local ISPs to block certain political opposition websites. Included in their list was the IP of an opposition site published on Wix - so with it all sites built on Wix that shared its static domain server IP address were blocked too.
If that’s the case, and you’re collateral damage in a blanket IP ban and there’s nothing Wix can do for you. You’ll need to contact your local ISP(s) and try to convince them remove the IP ban, which (under government orders) they’ll likely deny any knowledge of.
In our case, our site and 2,000+ other Wix-built sites in the country were down on local ISPs for two weeks before one by one they caved to public and commercial pressure and finally whitelisted it.
I checked and your URL is working - outside Tanzania at least.
You might start with seeing if other Wix-built sites in Tanzania are affected. If they are, then it’s a good sign it’s an IP ban on Wix servers.
Thanks for the insight and list @Baksheesh regarding this. I asked on my end and there’s no service disruption on Wix’s end to Tanzania.
Since then this is caused on the ISPs end, unfortunately Wix would not be able to circumvent any blocks so the best course of action would be to reach out to the ISP regarding the site not being accessible. Let us know and keep us posted @Heem_Graphics.
I also wanted to confirm that I can access the site on my end as well.
