Ability to Arrange/Prioritize Badges

Greetings, my name is David Allen Farrell. I am a professional gaming community manager and industry-leading content producer. My in-game “handle” is GOD-sSs-END, and I am the head/founder of the HLL Training Camp. The HLLTC Discord has over 2000 members but combined with our partners, I have an influencer base of over 20,000. . . I recently began building websites for our partners. The following features would provide a huge incentive for teams to begin building with Wix. If I could offer this feature, Wix would quickly become the exclusive web-building tool in my community.

Arrange/Prioritize Badges

In gaming communities, badges say a lot about who you are. Badges are a point of pride. Badges distinguish your progress in various games. Badges also identify the types of skills select players bring to their communities. And badges recognize excellence among our player bases and are used to identify and thank financial contributors.

Gaming Communities Require Two forms of Badge Order Control

  1. Administrative Arrangement

Allowing site admins to arrange the badges for default display would help us display, for example, rank/role badges ahead of all other less important badges.

I recently created a suite of badges for my members, but I created my rank/role badges first. I created my specialty badges second. I could delete all badges and re-introduce them so that they are properly ordered. But this is cumbersome, as I will certainly find reasons to create new badges as my community grows even larger.

It would be much more beneficial to have the ability to move badges around in the badges section of Wix’s dashboard area. That way, site admins could display badges for members in an organized and consistent fashion, as well as according to badge importance.

  1. Priority Badge Selection for Members

Members do not need to arrange their badges. However, it would be extremely attractive to gamers if they could select at least one badge from their list of badges earned to represent them/their interests. This would be the badge they are most proud of. This would be the badge they would like displayed above or ahead of all others.

As mentioned, I have created a number of custom badges. This selection of badges is based on the HLLTC’s rank/roles and specialty groups in our official Discord. We have many more badges to create. Please consider providing this feature. The ability to arrange/prioritize badges as describe is a great opportunity to expand Wix’s presence in gaming communities. The gaming industry is the fastest growing industry in the world, presently. Why not lead the charge?

Below is my community website. We deployed early-access to begin populating the site yesterday. I’ve also included a website that I built for one of our partners, EASY Company 506th PIR. Easy is not using badges as we are at the HLLTC precisely because they can’t order badges. Easy Co. has a player base of over 3000 members.

Imagine the possibilities. The ability to arrange/prioritize badges will be HUGE!

Gaming communities are intensely forum-focused. The ability to arrange/prioritize badges is a potential gold mine. I have several teams interested in me designing their new sites. Please consider adding these features.

Great idea! Currently we can only achieve this using Corvid CLI

Yeah, a coding solution would work for me. I’ve been coding Corvid about 4 months and have had some serious fun with it, but my friends and partners (other community leaders) need out-of-the-box utilities that they can easily manage. If arranging/prioritize badges as I described were baked into the badge dashboard (admin arrangement) or individual member’s areas (user selection priority), I think Wix would catch fire in an industry that is just busting for someone to meet its needs.

As I mentioned, gaming communities are forum-focused. Badges offer an opportunity to recognize members for a variety of things. This recognition is a big piece of the retention puzzle, which I did not discuss above. Communities that achieve high retention are emulated by other communities. And the tools they used to achieve retention diffuse rapidly.

To be able to offer this utility would be great for me, as I’m all about building communities. It’s literally what I do. But this would be a huge coup for Wix. I plan to promote Wix on my YouTube channel. I cannot express enough how fast the arrangement and prioritizing of badges would spread through our community and, certainly, beyond to other games. Moreover, I’d ensure it.

We have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Here’s hoping.

100% agree - This is actually a feature request that I have requested as well. And - it’s for the exact reasons you have spelled out here. I’m actually a gamer also and my background for communities has been from running a 18 year old (my gosh, it can vote now!) gaming community. I’m not doing that anymore - I now do it for Wix.

I also wonder with a little coding if you could possibly write a Discord Bot that could integrate with a Wix DB that might could sync profiles/badges. How legit would that be?

Also: I do know that they are working on something that will make you very happy - custom profile fields. It’s in the pipeline. A great use-case for you would be adding Xbox/Ps4/Battlenet tags in profiles so members can find each other on gaming networks.

Feel free to hit me up anytime - you are speaking my language

Also: moved this to Partner Discussion, because this is a feature request.

Agree, if we are lazy, just wait and wait… the only way we can use now is to hardworking…
