I have created a vendor form that is connected to a database to collect all the information. Upon submission, I would like the vendors to be able to pay their vendor fees. The Paypal Buy Now Buttons don’t allow for submission to the database. Regular buttons that will connect to the database will only allow me to redirect the customer to paypal in general but not to make a specific payment. Any ideas? I am new to code and would really appreciate some help.
Hi Tiffany, unfortunately your only option really is to setup a PayPal developer account and get a set of API keys and start interacting with their REST API in order to construct your custom payment flow. Alternatively, you might look into PayPal’s Braintree https://www.braintreepayments.com/ to see if their offerings will do what you need.
Hey!! Thanks for the response. All of that was too code heavy for me. I’m a newbie. So instead I created a payment page that had additional instruction and a customized Paypal Buy Now button and had the submit button redirect to the payment page.
Hi Tiffany,
so glad to find your query on here because i have the same exact problem. I’m selling tickets to different events, and i also have zero code experience.
I created a customer booking form (where customer put their name, surname, selected event etc) that links to a wix database collection (taught myself with the helpful wix videos)
Once customers fill in all their details, they click submit, and they are supposed to go to a payment page at this point. Here is where im not sure what to do -
This payment page is supposed to know how much the customer should pay (as i am selling tickets to different events, and each event is a different cost)
It sounds like you found a way to have that submit button (which collects customer information to your wix database) to have a double “responsibility”: fill in your database+ go directly to a payment page ?
could you kindly share how you did that? totally lost
thanks so much !
Hello Carolina:
I’m so sorry I’m just seeing your message!!! Were you able to find a solution? I solved my problem by having the submit button take the customer to a new page that I labeled SUCCESS! Then I placed a PayPal button that I created in PayPal to the page and added instructions that stated that there registration was not complete until they clicked the PayPal button below and made their payment. You can see the payment page at https://www.gadayweekend.com/performance-music-submit
I also just hid this page from search engines put added a tab called Payments to the menu in case the user needed to come back to make the payment. Feel free to contact me directly if you need more help. Blackphoenixmedia7@gmail.com. Hope this helps.
I have the same question! I’ve done what you guys have done. Users enter their info into a wix code form and when they click submit they a directed to a ‘pay page’ that has links to a few different PayPal buttons depending on which event they are paying for. The main problem I have with this is that there isn’t a way to know which customer has paid for what event other than asking them in the initial form.
I would love my database to show all the user input including how much they paid. I can’t see a way to link the they PayPal button payment to the Wix database.
Hey guys. I’ve been losing hair over the same issue. One work around is using JotForms. Yes, it is a bit stupid that wix has all the bells and whistles yet falls short to tie the forms with payment and the database connection. So, by embedding a custom made JotForm you can at least collect all the info and the payment in one place and keep track of it. It just will require a separate manual entry CRM. Also, if you are dealing (another big issue) with recurring payments, neither wix nor ecwid has a direct solution. If you create your form and add Square plug in then you can manage the recurring payment schedule in Square.
It is so weird that all these commerce platforms are designed to fall short somewhere as if they are clueless about shoppers and merchants basic needs…
I think they deliberately do that, so that you’ve to purchase their Apps.
Since my post they launched wix forms which allows you take payments if you subscribe to the pro version. But even then the form only allows you to charge a single fixed price. It doesn’t offer options. You need to add a new form for each item even if it’s a variation.
