Adding two databases

This may be a silly question…

I am attempting to have two tables, side by side, using two different database sets. However, the second DB isn’t popping up when I attempt to connect the DB to the table. Do you know a reason this may be happening? Thanks.

So basically you can just follow this tutorial twice for the two datasets.

Just have the two datasets on your page and add them each to a table.

Important:
When you connect a gallery to a database collection, it does not display your items in the Editor. You must preview or publish your site to see your data displayed in the gallery.

I have tried that. Yet when I attempt to connect the DB to my second table, it only gives me the option for the one DB instead of the 2 that I have created. I set both DBs up the exact same way, but it seems that one of them I am unable to link to anything.

Okay, update! I see that if I connect the first table to a database, I can choose from the two. Once that icon is added to the page that connects the table to the database, I can only choose that db for either table. I can’t figure out how to get a second icon with my second database added.

Okay solution time.

  1. Add the two tables to your page without adding any datasets.
  2. Use one table settings to create a dataset and choose your existing dataset to add to page as normal and link to table as you want etc.

This then brings you to the issue that you stated, that you can only choose from the one dataset, so to fix that do the following.

  1. Add a new dataset to your page through the normal menu option of data, add data element etc.
  2. Setup this new dataset so that it is connected to your other dataset that you need for the second table.
  3. Now. when you click on the connect to data icon on your second table the choose option should now be blank again and you can simply click on the dropdown arrow to choose the correct dataset.

Just note that as this isn’t to do with Wix Corvid and related to code on your page, that it really should have gone through the contacting Wix Support route and them advising you how to do it.

However, you now have the solution, so hope it all runs fine now for you. :grinning:

Plus, I know this works as I have got home and tested it myself in the Wix Editor, hence the instructions above.

I’ve also sent it to Wix Support too to see if it is a known bug or something that needs fixing so that you can add more than just the one table and use the connect to dataset option for each table.
