All internal site links won't open in 'Current window'

I’ve just noticed that none of my internal links (Navigation menu, buttons, hyperlinks) will open within the current window. On the Navigation menu, I can set the pages to open in a new window and it works fine. But when I select the open in current window, I can see the URL change but I am not being redirected to the selected page.
Does anyone know a solution to this as I would prefer all pages to open within the current window.
