automatically populate a form field from the URL in a wix form

I apologize from the start…I’m not a coder, so keep it simple for me please…just looking for some help/advise. Ultimately what I want to do is send out a custom urls to hundreds of potential customers. The URL will be coded with a unique ID code. When they click on the link or QR code, it will take them to a form that pre-populates their unique code in the ID field and submits it. Then, based on the prefix of the code, the website will load the appropriate web page so it is relevant to their business type.

I set up a super simple form on what I’m calling the routing page to test this out, but it doesn’t seem to do what I want. am I using the ? path incorrectly? or is this just not supported in wix? https://ljvidra.wixsite.com/paceo/router#form?IDCode=54IP7 Is there a better way to accomplish what I’m trying to do?

Hi Lori,

You can accomplish this using the wixLocation.query property.

Here’s a example of how you would set a TextInput element to the value when the page loads based on the unique route:

import wixLocation from "wix-location";

$w.onReady(function () {
  const queryParams = wixLocation.query;
  $w("#textInput").value = queryParams.IDCode;
});
