Hi everyone, I’m just starting out with Wix Studio and I don’t yet have a custom domain. Right now, I’m using the free Wix Studio subdomain and I wanted to ask if it is fully effective for SEO purposes, or if it’s better to invest in a custom domain sooner.

In terms of SEO and indexing the site, you should be good with the free Wix subdomain for now as whatever you save will carry over in terms of alt-text, URL slugs, etc and if anyone accesses the free domain after you upgrade, they’ll be redirected to the new custom domain.
The only thing I could see is I’ve seen some platforms like Facebook block websites using free URLs (not only Wix’s) since if someone reports say robert.wixstudio.com/mysite, it blocks wixstudio.com and not only robert.wixstudio.com; additionally, I feel that most users will feel more comfortable sharing the site and it’s easier to read if you have a custom domain rather than robert.wixstudio.com/mysite.
