Better loading time for hundreds of pages

Hi all

I am building a website with hundreds of pages. I can’t use dynamic page for this, as each pages has different content and layout. I have explored with Wix store, but it doesn’t allow to change the layout of the elements. Is there any ways, I can improve the loading time of my website or is there a better way to build such website? My website is video-based - with video links from Youtube. Pls help :slight_smile:

Thanks!

Odds are dynamic pages are the solution to your problem. You can create multiple dynamic layouts if need be, but otherwise you can collapse and expand elements based on the type of item pulled from your database.

Hi David

In order to use dynamic page, I need to use a repaeater right? The repeater cannot contain elements with videos that are pulled from YouTube. I have tried this with pro gallery, but it doesn’t work. Do you have any suggestions? I am using YouTube video to avoid paying for storage in Wix.

Hi Lana,

You don’t need a repeater in order to use dynamic pages. Dynamic pages display different data from a database collection. I would recommend looking at the documentation for Dynamic Pages . You will want to use a Dynamic Item Page which displays one item from a collection.

See Dynamic Page Loop for a simple example of dynamic pages.

@yisrael-wix Hi Yisreal

As I understand dynamic page, the layout remains the same, but the content changes according to the fields’s content in the data collection right?

However, in order for the the dynamic page to display a pro gallery with an Youtube Url, I need to add this as a field. This is not an option in the database collection. You can only add a video, gallery or image - NOT a pro gallery with Youtube Url and I really need this option. Do you have a solution for this?

@lanluu82 This can be done with a gallery that isn’t a pro gallery. Alternatively, it’s also possible to embed Youtube in an HTML component directly.

If these don’t work for you, then I’m afraid your only option is adding pages the standard way. Maybe organizing them using folders can make them a bit more manageable, but either way your site doesn’t load every page at once, so it won’t slow it down. It will, however, clutter up the editor.

@skmedia Hi David

Thank you very much for your reply. I have tried to choose gallery in the database, but it doesn’t allow me to upload url from Youtube - only videos and unfortunately I am not a coder :frowning:

I probably have to add the pages the standard way and I hope that the loading time is not too slow.

Great advice with adding folders to manage my pages. Thanks a lot.

@lanluu82 Sure thing, if you do want a more automated solution, just send me an email . :slight_smile:
