Can/should you add "near me" to keywords?

Question:
I am a little confused about specifying localized key words in Wix. I know that I can add a geographical location, such as a city, after a keyword for example “aestheticians in Chicago” when specifying my 5 keywords but can/should I be specifying “aestheticians near me” instead? I have my google business profile set up so the “near me” searches should hit my website when appropriate so I’m thinking I should be adding the actual city name to my keywords, correct?

What are you trying to achieve:
Trying to specify more specific keywords

I have never used “near me” in my SEO keywords, but have used the location. I’m no SEO expert though.
My reasoning is that when a user searches " (something) near me" the search engine is actually using their location not the term near me to filter results.

Thank you so much for your reply. You have confirmed what I thought was the case. Believe it or not I have done endless google searches and watched numerous keyword selection videos but couldn’t find one that specifically addressed what I thought was a pretty simple question.
