Change the partner program levels name

Hi community, I would like to share opinions on the new partner’s program levels name. In my opinion, they are pretty bad!

Wix has a habit of bad- naming their product
Wix arena (changed to Wix MarketPlace \o/), Wix Corvid (formerly Wix Code /o) , Wix app (changed to Wix block \o/),…

And now we have pioneer , explorer, icon, creator, & legend .

How do you want us to use those names to market ourself?

Partner: " Hi, I’m Wix icon partner ! How can I help you?"
Client: “Sorry I don’t need icon, I need a web designer”
Partners: “…”

Client : “Hi, I’m looking for a serious agency to take my website to the next level”.
Partner: " Count on us we are a Wix Creator agency ".
Client: “I already created my website but I need some to help me with SEO”
Partner: “…”

So once again we’ll have to explain something to the public that should not be explained:

Client: " Tell me more about the agency level? "
Partner: " So we are a Wix Creator partner , that means we have successfully delivered more websites than pioneer , icon and expert agency but don’t have the level of legend agency yet… "

By the way, I tricked you !

the correct order of levels is explorer, pioneer, creator, icon & legend (or is it?)

how could you know?

You could have chosen something easier to understand

Partner levels:

  1. Copper

  2. Silver

  3. Gold

  4. Platinium

  5. Diamond
    Or

  6. Basic

  7. Intermediate

  8. Advance

  9. Excellency

  10. Ultimate
    Or

  11. Rookie

  12. Confirmed

  13. Pro

  14. MVP

  15. All-Star
    Or even

  16. level 1

  17. level 2

  18. level 3

  19. level 4

  20. level 5

What sound better?

Partner: " hi, I’m a Wix Silver Partner , how can I help? " or
Partner: " hi, I’m a Wix Pioneer Partner , how can I help ?"

So what your opinion? Can you come up with better names?

ps Wix: I love the program and what it brings to the partner community! Thank you for making it happens!

I like this one the best

  1. Basic

  2. Intermediate

  3. Advance

  4. Excellency

  5. Ultimate

I’m thinking it is more for internal use than actual labels we will use with clients. At least I hope this is the case!

Imagine … each year resetting our Level status and having to keep up with it just to keep the client up to date on what our status is and what it means? Even airline miles expire longer than that (24 months). I personally love my Michael Kors VIP Membership because they have Rewards Points and a Status Level. The reward points are accumulated yearly based on purchases and restart at the beginning of the year, but the Status level stays the same. If at the end of 24 months you cannot maintain your Status then you get bumped down a level (they never make you start from scratch).

As far as names go … I think I shall stick with Wix Design Expert … or Corvid Master … and that’s it. Everything else is a bit much.

i think he wants one of those provided answers…

sorry about those spelling errors… fixed them just now

I agree with Nayeli not sure I would use externally and I also dont use the term partner at first. I refer to myself as a Wix expert as that seems to do what it says on the tin. I also wasn’t sure on the partner badges but that’s a whole different topic. If i remember them correctly they had different stars which makes me think of reviews. As a buyer of stuff I am always looking for as close to 5 star as I can get… I did only see these as a glance though so I may have misunderstood.

As we everyone else do generally love the idea of the programme

I actually like the new badge names (icon, legend, etc). Its creative and feels fresh.

@juliet & @nayeli

I think there is value in marketing yourself as high level Wix agency. It’s set the expectation that you are someone with experience.

On top of that client are more likely to pay a premium price to work with a Platinium partner rather than a Silver partner

Both might do fine work but chances are that Platinium has more business experience and will be able to handle bigger project rather than a fresh partner who only started a few weeks ago hence the premium price.

Moreover, thanks to badges, partners are going to advertise their level on their website, emails (why wouldn’t they) and the naming will only bring confusion to client IMO.

I think you both @plomteuxquentin and @nayeli have very good points.

Like you Quentin, I would love to display the level I am and I absolutely love collecting badges and displaying them.

My preferred names would be:

  1. Basic

  2. Intermediate

  3. Advance

  4. Excellency

  5. Ultimate

However, Nayeli has a good point that these levels can change too often. One moment I can be Excellency and the other moment Intermediate. The number of Premium Plans we own can not be the sign of our skills. Many clients I worked with didn’t succeed in their businesses and therefore they canceled their Premium Plans so I always have more-less the same number of Premiums, but I’ve built a lot of websites and am improving every year.

Therefore, I don’t like that these levels are changing based on the amount of current Premium Plans in the account.

There is great marketing value in consistency. If every partner calls themselves something different, the client community will become confused; thus the titles meaningless. For this reason alone, the title that Wix assigns to the partner levels is extremely important. Moreover, Wix needs to require that partners identify themselves with the title assigned to them (maybe a contract is appropriate?). Thus the name of titles becomes an issue. I tend to agree that the names are rather meaningless to the client community. The badges that Wix will provide will (I assume) have the title on them and I am certain Wix expects us to use them. Thus again, the title is important. I am sure that if we, as a community, request a change (quickly) Wix would be willing to accommodate us. Every interaction I have had with them suggests they listen intently to our concerns, issues, suggestions.

Hi Quentin! Thanks so much for this feedback. I’m glad that you love the Partner Program

These tiers largely relate to which benefits you receive as a Wix Partner, which isn’t information you would share with your clients.

You can continue to market yourself the way you always have, or you can promote your tier - it’s your choice which approach works best for you

@Sheyla I’ve got to disagree on this one.

If these tiers were not to be shared with our clients Wix would not provide badges. If you provide badges, you encourage us to market ourselves as a pioneer, creator,… and we could have stick to partner level 1, level 2, level 3,…

Therefore having a badge " Wix Gold partner " is way better than having a badge " Wix Icon partner "

Moreover, if I can market myself as I wish what prevent me to label myself as
Wix-5-stars-legendary-senior partner ? :stuck_out_tongue:

having an official and understandable partner structure/hierarchy will benefit both Wix partners as well as Wix clients (and therefor Wix  )
But, as stated in other discussions this should depend on more than just the number of plan you have (But That’s another topic)

@sheyla Respectfully, I believe this is a bad idea. There is a lot of discussion in the forum and FB about scammers or just inept partners. Wix needs to take some responsibility and control. As I mentioned, creating consistency so that the client community can make better judgement is and will become more and more important. The label that Wix gives each partner, the badge they provide, will help reduce confusion and prevent less capable designers from selling their capabilities as true “Experts”, until, of course, they become such.

@plomteuxquentin

I completely understand where you’re coming from - but it’s important to remember that rank isn’t enough to recommend yourself to a client, and while it may seem like ‘gold’ outweighs ‘silver’, a client will still look to your portfolio to decide whether they wish to work with you

There are those who still call themselves Wix Webmasters and that’s okay too  It’s 100% up to what marketing strategy works best for your business.

@david-rosenblatt We’ve discussed this a few times in the past. Everyone starts somewhere - and this is reflected in their work. That being said, the Marketplace has strict guidelines which are taken very seriously.

There are many ways to stand out as a Wix Partner . You can choose to use your tier as a way to promote yourself, but nothing reflects consistency more than a consistent portfolio.

@sheyla IMHO it is naive to think that partners won’t use their rank to sell themselves. nor that clients take the time to truly research the person they hire. If you look at all of the complaints about scammers (meaning a client who did not take to heart the concept of “Caveat Emptor”) you can see that clients need help. They need to be protected from themselves sometimes. And while this may not directly be Wix’s responsibility, it surely impacts their reputation !

@david-rosenblatt I think you’re missing the point - it’s not about not using your rank to promote yourself, it’s about that rank alone isn’t enough to win over a client, and that there are several more factors that will determine whether you’re a good fit for a project (or if the client is a good fit for you).

Ultimately the Marketplace is exactly that - a place to market yourself where clients can choose to hire you based on their best judgement.

@sheyla Hi! I am glad that you have raised this issue. I totally agree with you. The level of a designer is determined primarily by his portfolio. However, the new program takes into account only the number of plans. The new program does not take into account the quality of work performed. Personally, I would like to see quality also taken into account. I hope you are working in this direction.

Hi Evgeniy! This is a tricky topic as quality can be subjectively interpreted, but we definitely appreciate the feedback!
