Connecting FREE Domain to Premium

Question:
How do I connect a FREE Wix website I just designed to a custom domain my client already owns?

What are you trying to achieve:
My client owns her domain and built a website for it. She asked for me to redesign it. So I have my newly designed site ready to go for her (right now it is free). In order to connect to her domain it is saying that my site needs to be upgraded to Premium. But she already paid for her site that we just want to replace with my site I just made. HELP!!

Is it impossible for the client to switch to a custom domain after transferring the site to them while it’s still on the free plan? :thinking:

You need to transfer the site to her Wix account.

Then she needs to reassign the premium plan to her new site. The domain moves with the premium plan. No need to reconnect.

The only other topics I recommend you visit is SEO is site data and analytics. Members don’t transfer. Store analytics and other app analytics don’t transfer. 301 redirects for any new URL endings need to be added manually.
