How do I make a menu tab/item unclickable? When they click on it, they shouldn’t be directed to another page, I just want them to see the drop down list when they hover over the tab or click on it. I want it so that when they click on the tab nothing happens except the 2 drop down items showing.
I’m not sure I got what you’re asking. If don’t want it to be clickable, just don’t make it clickable. (don’t use a native menu, but a box with the list.
Hi there Andrea. I know exactly what you’re talking about. What you’re referring to is called “Folders” in the site menu. Instead of adding subpages under a main page, add a new folder and place the subpages underneath it. The “add folder” icon is next to the “add page” button. It took me awhile to figure this out because it was hard to find the answer so I just started poking around.
See my screenshot below. The “Solutions” folder is an unclickable header on my main menu, but once you hover the three choices of “Outsourcing, Servicing, and Consulting” will show up.
In contrast, the “About Us” is a page, and it is clickable, but you can also hover for more options like “Compliance”, “Resources”, and “Roadmap”.
I know this is 2 years late but I just happened to come across this so I hope it helps!
When you opt to use a “folder” instead of a “page”, the customization of the clicked/hover feature does not work. Only the “pages” change colour while the “folders” stay the same. How do I get the folder names to change colour when the user hovers over it?
Unfortunately, this does not work anymore for Wix Studio in 2025. It was so easy. It’s a simple task – make only the dropdown menu items clickable, not the main menu item. Studio has made it SOOOOO complicated to do a simple process. The Megamenu workaround is so convoluted. So much energy spent on creating the Megamenu so someone on rare occasion can create a dropdown box from the same menu, and it SEEMS full of bugs. Ugh… If you’re gonna test Studio on people, you’d better have your code writers ready to respond to problems. Some aspects of it are so clumsy!
I note that Wix Studio in 2025 retired the “folder” functionality for a non-clickable title item in a menu. However the work around is not clear. I seek a non clickable link that would work in desktop and mobil versions, and do not see any recipe to accomplish this. Looking forward to any input, thanks, Bob
Go to Manage Menu > Add Item
Select Submenu Title
Change to what the copy should be “About” “Services” etc.
Click the 3 dot button next to the pages you want to nest and select "Move Under [subtitle link name]
You might have to move the page below the subtitle link before you try to nest it.
In Wix 2025 you can create a dropdown menu to accomplish this. A drop-down makes the top item in the menu not clickable and then everything nested underneath it clickable.
I see there’s a bit of confusion, and hope to clear things up
Wix Studio
Earlier this year (2025), a new unified menu was introduced to the Studio editor. This new menu has new features, such as having one component that supports horizontal, vertical and hamburger menus across breakpoints (more details here)
We have an article here that goes into more details about working with the new menus, with a section here that dives into creating dropdowns.
When creating a new menu item, select the “Dropdown” option, and by default, it will be an unlinked menu item, with submenu options.
