Hi, I have an events Data collection via the events app. I need to make a custom gallery and manually connect a data set to the repeater. When I connect the button to the dynamic url for the details page, it doesn’t actually link to anything, even though it is shown as connected. Is this a bug?
Not sure if you read my post or not. But I clearly stated I tried doing exactly what is instructed on those articles. It doesn’t work.

Okay, so where in your post did you mention that you had used these two Wix tutorial pages already as I can’t see any link to them or any mention to them in your post.
I say I connect the button to the URL, which is exactly what it says to do.
Still doesn’t state that you have used the two tutorials, other forum users who don’t know about those custom event tutorials won’t have any idea about them either.
Anyways, check that you have changed the details page.
Dynamic Page Creation
We begin by adding a dynamic item page to our site. Since we want our page to show items from the Events/Events collection, we click the Settings icon next to that collection, and then click Add a Dynamic Page . To set up our page, we change the default URL by removing one of the Events/ sections and replacing title with the Slug field. The editable section of the URL now looks like this: Events/{Slug} . This will give us a meaningful URL, which is important for SEO.
Also, make sure that you save and publish your site too and are not just using the preview to test it.
Note:
You may need to publish your site at least once after adding the Wix Events app to make some of the additional functionality described below work properly.
What about using the existing details pages with the custom gallery
Ok so publishing the site worked. But now I"m having the same problem using a table instead of a repeater. The link just goes to the home page…any ideas?
so on a table, if you link it to the registration url instead, it will work
