Question:
Is it possible to make a slide show with completely different slide designs, or at least design a slide show with master slides and children slides?
Product:
Wix Studio
What are you trying to achieve:
I’m trying to create a slide show that shows off multiple attractions for an event that are completely un-related and need their own individual designs and layouts. e.g. slide 1: farmers market, slide 2: day schedule, slide 3: kids musical performer, slide 4: day two schedule, slide 5: carnival rides, slide 6: day two evening concert schedule etc.
What have you already tried:
I’ve already tried to use the slideshow repeater template and also tried the "quick add version as well. I’ve also tried using a pro gallery slider style.
*Additional information:
I found the problem with the slider gallery was it allowed me to create the design I wanted but wan’t optimisable for mobile, as text elements got chopped in the designs or were too small in mobile versions. Where as the slideshow repeater simply doesn’t allow the customisability for each slide that I need to create, though it is great for mobile optimisation.
Is there another tool altogether I should consider?
Why not generating your own → SLIDESHOW <— ???
- Automatic Slideshow - JSFiddle - Code Playground
- CSS-only slideshow - JSFiddle - Code Playground
- Simple Image Slideshow - JSFiddle - Code Playground
- CSS Only Slideshow - JSFiddle - Code Playground
I know all of these are just simple ones, but you can create a real good slideshow on your own, even 1000x better then provided by Wix.
It’s all about your IMAGINATIONS, BRAIN and EFFORT you put into your own project.
Use an HTML-Component to create your own one.
You already have first starting very simple examples.
Good luck!
Couldn’t you use a multi state box for this?
I don’t know if you need to to automatically slide via native settings, but … you are free to design something different in each box. And you could add code to either automatically move to the next box or with a button click, etc. https://www.wix.com/velo/reference/$w/multistatebox/changestate
-Possible? → yes of course!
-A real slide-show? → not really!

There are so many different possibilities
Maybe you want to go beyond the boundaries ???
What a bout integrating for example google-slides?
But what is exactly the definition of a slideshow?
Well… maybe …
A slideshow is a presentation format where a sequence of images, often accompanied by text or audio, is displayed sequentially. Each image, known as a slide, typically contains content such as photographs, illustrations, graphics, or text. Slideshows are commonly used for various purposes, including presentations, educational materials, photo sharing, advertising, and entertainment. They can be presented manually by a speaker or set to advance automatically, transitioning from one slide to the next. Slideshows are often created using presentation software or online tools and can be delivered in person, shared digitally, or accessed online.
-There are boring slide-shows
-There are ordinary slide-shows
-There are interessting slide-shows
-There are exiting slide-shows
-And there are superior slide-shows
Depending on how far you want to go and how much quality to put onto your project.
Thanks for your replies everyone. I’m sure they all work appropriately. However I’m very green with coding and have no idea how to do 99% of what you’re suggesting. I guess I was hoping there was a drag and drop tool within Wix studio that I was missing.
If so, then you should consider to go the way Queeny suggested you.
By using a MSB (Multi-State-Box) you will be able to generate several different tabs/sections. As i can remember, the MSB also offers a limited transition-package, where you can set a specific transition, which will work when switching the tabs (animated).
But i think you will still need some code, to realize your wished functionality.
The crazy part is that this was possible on the old Wix editor. It feels as though Wix is going backwards.
What was once a simple drag-and-drop now requires additional code to create. @anthony is there something simple that we are perhaps missing here?
I don’t believe so but if you want this feature in Wix Studio then you can request it on the product roadmap: Product Roadmap
