Hello,
Looking for some help… quite desperate now.
Pulled most of the little hair I have left out!
I have many repeaters throughout my site, some pages having more than one.
I’ve created many datasets, but as soon as I connect one to a repeater, it becomes the default / only option dataset for all other repeaters on my site (for all pages).
You can see from screen shots below… I simply don’t get any other options in the drop list to choose a different dataset on any repeaters once that first one is connected up.
I’m hoping It’s just me doing something wrong and an easy fix!
Have you looked at the Permissons per Dataset? You will need read access.
Yes all datasets have read access.
I can use any other dataset, as long as it’s the first to be connected.
Then once one is connected it locks out all the others from being used as they don’t appear in the drop list as options to connect up to the next repeater.
Is a repeater/dataset connection classed as an automation?
I’m thinking maybe because I’ve used 2 it’s limiting my options on linking anymore up, in line with the wix free plan?
I plan to upgrade, but wanted to build the website fully 1st. The limitations put in place, restrict how far you can go before needing to make the upgrade which is very annoying.
Can I suggest @wix, that when you reach site build limitations and want to proceed without upgrade, you give the site owner an option to continue in free plan but restrict the possibility to publish the site until the upgrade is completed later.
This would satisfy those who want a limited site using free plans with ads and those wanting to take a little longer to build the perfect site unrestricted on functionality in the free plan but with no publishing rights until upgraded. (Nobody want to be paying for a plan when the site is not finished and ready for publishing)
Anyway… to finish off, can someone at wix please confirm the above assessment is correct and it’s a restriction and not something else. I’d hate to upgrade and find the problem still exists.
Thanks
If you want to have multiple datasets used on your page, then do not go through the create dataset as you have done.
Create all your databases through the add new option in the Site Structure.
https://support.wix.com/en/article/displaying-database-content-on-a-regular-page#1-create-a-database-collection-1
Simply add all the dataset elements separately and connect them as like here.
https://support.wix.com/en/article/adding-and-setting-up-a-dataset
If you do it your way and create multiple datasets, then it will only pick up the one dataset.
Hi GOS, thanks for the reply.
You Sir are a wix genius!!!
