I am trying to connect a domain that I own. Unfortunately, the instructions only tell me that I should set up both the zone itself and the www entry as CNAME to pointing.wixdns.net. However, as the zone also has an MX record for the mail server, this is technically not possible. I have to redirect the ‘@’ record, i.e. the zone itself, with an A record. Where can I find the relevant data?
Are you pointing? Or are you changing nameservers?
Those are the two ways of connecting a domain.
Wherever your nameservers are, that is where you must configure your MX records.
We are pointing. I will not change the nameservers. And having a cname record for a hostname disables having a mx record. Explained for example here: CNAME and MX for the same host name | Total Uptime®
I know wix-customers, that are running the config Zone itself points with A-Record to a wix-ip-address www-record is a cname to wwwXX.wixdns.net.
Can you tell me, why this is not possible any more?
Sorry hun, I don’t know how to help you. At this point I am trying to guide you blindly because you don’t mention who is your domain provider or who is your email provider:
All of the hundreds of domains I setup with email settings are done where the nameservers are. Every domain provider is different so some of them have a small section called Email Settings, advanced DNS or something else. But the way to setup email is via MX configuration.
Most of my domains are connected via pointing and others are via nameservers. All of them have MX configuration regardless.
