Dynamic Meta Data For Product Pages Using A Dataset?

This may seem like a strange question as the product description is part of the dynamic data that is transferred to the product page and many may think that it is working for SEO since it shows as the Google search result “description and title” But I assure you it is not being used properly for SEO and search engines will penalize you (and me) for the way the product page is indexed.

I have ran audits on my site for over a month and I have been submitting crawl requests since the day I got the “base info” of the site skeleton finished (this means with main content with no blog or FAQ) and still even tonight when I ran the audit I was flagged with 84 pages with REPEATING TITLES & DESCRIPTIONS. Even though google shows the product description in google search, that IS NOT the description that is indexed when the product pages are crawled and indexed.

Mine all have the Title of the Home page and the description given on the home screen and every other page that Wix doesn’t allow us to edit. If I wasn’t on a deadline when I built this site, I would have used Drupal or Wordpress because they leave me with complete freedom to add and change what is necessary to get my pages indexed with the proper content.

Is there ANY WAY to change these settings by making a database full of descriptions and linking that dataset to an html block or some other way to drop the desired code to each page? I mean other than skipping the dynamic page idea and just building an individual page for each product…

The product pages are not the only pages that are affected by Wix’s way of sorting and blocking their own code. Upon performing audits for this long I have noticed a ton of things. Text added to sliders, on images, in boxes, switch boxes, strips, etc… None of that text gets read by search engines as anything substantial. I ran audits time and time again and it came back with errors for not having H1, H2, or H3 tags when they were in plain site on the page. It read that there were no matching keywords other that title and description because no content on the page was indexed or able to be read by the audit.

The alt text for images DOES NOT show up. and the IMAGES themselves don’t show up unless they are the base layer on the page, because as soon as you place the image on a slider or a box or anything to add style, the alt text is no longer visible. This is a serious issue. And I logged these audits in real time after making changes and republishing before performing a live audit each time to try to fix the issues and these issues can not be fixed.

If anyone else has looked this far into it and noticed this let me know.

Sincerely,
David

The Wix SEO feature is quite powerful and has received many favorable reviews. However, this forum is dedicated to Wix Code. For questions regarding SEO, you can contact the Wix support team . You’ll get better help for your problem there.

I see, You know if you would have read my Header question I WAS asking about wix code. I posted here about my complaints to try to get SOME KIND of answer because the support team will not answer my tickets. And I’m sooooooooooooo glad that you can tell me how powerful (not really) the SEO is, even though I have just pointed out several of the negative points about it and how it causes a false sense of accomplishment. There are many things that fall below the acceptable ranking and since I have been looking into it I have seen more & more people starting to see the downfalls. You say that the wix seo has gotten favorable reviews… Then the people giving those reviews don’t know what to look for. As it looks like you are in the same boat.

Thanks for taking time out of your supremely busy schedule just to shove my request for advice to the side as a topic that is not appropriate for Wix Code Forums, when I was asking if there was a way to use code to link a dataset to the product pages and call sets like descriptions as these things don’t get logged by Google… But Thanks Again. I’ll be sure to keep people from signing up for this joke of a site.

@slomoau I’m sorry that you feel I was just pushing your question aside. However, the support team is the usual address for SEO issues. Many of the questions that you asked are more relevant to site structure and have less to do with code - at least that was my take.

A couple of articles that might provide clarity:
Wix Code: About SEO and Routing - this article details how to make your site (especially dynamic pages) more SEO (Google) friendly.
Working with SEO Settings for Dynamic Pages - this is a new feature and might not yet be available in your area, but this is a major advance what was just recently announced.
SEO (Get Found on Google) - Wix has worked very closely with Google to provide the proper tools and access to Google SEO services to make Wix sites SEO friendly. There’s a lot of good material in the documentation.

We’d be glad to help you if you have questions regarding code that facilitates and helps SEO (e.g. routers). For other subjects, the Wix support team is the best address. You might also find SEO consultants on the WixArena - a hub where you can find Wix experts for hire.

@yisrael-wix Can you help me understand how to access data from the current pages dataset in a routing function? I don’t see how this feature is useful for creating SEO tags if you cannot access dynamic data. The only example they give is with static json data or hard coded strings which is not helpful and does not seem to make any sense for dynamic page. I would like to add the following valid meta tags to my dynamic pages:
