Dynamic page menu header color!

Hi,

If the site contains a dynamic page that is linked from the menu header, when the user clicks on the menu item representing the dynamic page, that menu item doesn’t change color to indicate it is active, even though the user can create a link that links to a dynamic page. It allows for a hover-over color change, but not active page.

This is especially frustrating as some of the templates have dynamic pages that are activated in this manner.

Please can we have this as a future update?

I agree @welshkiwi ! I think this should be a given. But I guess it’s because the dynamic page in the menu is a “link” not an actual page, much like an “anchor” is “link” not a page. But the anchor menu when you scroll down a page is able to highlight which anchor you’ve hit… It seems to me there must be a way for Wix to program the Menu to highlight the selected Dynamic page…

(I’m dreading having to explain this to clients who I convinced to go the Dynamic database route…)

It would be great to hear from admin if this is at least on their radar for a future update!

Any solution to this question? anyone have a workaround?

This is quite an annoying lack of feature, please do something about it. This is a very basic functionality in most CMS systems.

So there is a work around I discovered. If you create a regular page and add the dynamic elements to it (tables, datasets, repeaters etc.) then the color changes and holds the “clicked” state of the navigation menu.
If you go to “create a dynamic page” and then add the elements, then add the page as a link to the menu it does not retain the clicked feature of the navigation.
Hope that helps- I learnt the hard way and had to re-create dynamic pages this way.

This is helpful in some circumstances! However, many of us need the functionality of Dynamic Category & Item pages. Really hope Wix has this on their radar and near future “to do” list.

This is not a workaround unfortunately. Using dynamic elements in a page is fine, but the contents can’t be according to URL variables like it is with dynamic pages.
