Filter by reference

The filter().contains() feature does not work with Reference columns that reference text fields on other tables, because instead of returning the value of the text field from the other table, it uses some crazy alphanumeric string that you can’t actually access through code (you have to go to the database page and break connections to see it). Because of that, I can’t use it with a basic search/repeater set up. What’s the point in Reference columns if they don’t, y’know, reference data?

Hey,

With reference field, you need to have 2 datasets – one for master, one for details. That second dataset should contain a filter on reference field to get values from the first dataset current item. Once you have that, you can further apply contains filter on referenced values dataset.

@adas-bradauskas Hey, are you able to provide example code for how this would work? I think what you’re describing is what I’m trying to do but I’m not quite sure how to execute it.
